Why we're racing
Kevin vs. Frankie
Every race needs a reason. Ours is a long-running rivalry between a lifelong athlete and an "elevator enthusiast" firefighter, and nobody involved is willing to let it go.

A firefighter who prefers wheels to feet. Holds the (disputed) title of the only person to "run" a 5K on a Lime scooter, and then lead everyone the wrong way.
The Stakes: The Edgar
This year it's personal. Whoever loses the race gets an Edgar haircut. No appeals, no scooter loopholes, and the whole crowd will be there to watch the clippers come out.

How we got here
The Race for Robert grew out of a string of increasingly ridiculous challenges between Kevin and Frankie. The 5K is just the latest chapter.

The inaugural Race for Robert 5K
Kevin was out of town on race day. Frankie "ran" the 5K on a Lime scooter, and then made a wrong first turn. The rest of the field followed him the wrong way for quite a while before realizing something was off and heading back. Disappointing, yet hilarious. See the full 2025 page and route.

The rematch
The 2nd Annual Race for Robert 5K. Both rivals on the course, one Edgar haircut at stake, and a field full of witnesses.
Don't worry, I'll be participating this year to make sure everyone stays on track, no matter what wrong turn 2026 Frankie decides to take.
The location
Where we're running
The 2025 race started at Henry's Majestic and looped through the Trinity Skyline Trail and Perimeter Road to Trinity Overlook Park. Expect skyline views near Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, a little industrial charm around Sylvan 30, and a whiff of the not-so-pristine Trinity River. It's all part of the experience.
For 2026 we have two possible starting lines. The final call is still being worked out.

Just a block from where Henry's Majestic was, so the course stays exactly the same. Same route, same views, same chance for Frankie to find a new wrong turn.
Lola's Cantina & Snacks
A fresh start and finish line. Still working out the details, so the route would be updated if we go this way.
